TrexHost Hosting Account Backup Overview
Each TrexHost hosting account comes with a default backup space of 10 GB. We perform daily backups of your website content, databases, and emails, retaining them for 30 days.
You can check how much of your backup capacity is being used under the Backup Limit in your TrexHost Account Usage section.
Note: The Backup Limit is not a separate storage containing backups but represents the amount of web and email storage that TrexHost can back up based on your hosting plan.
Example:
If your TrexHost account uses:
- 5 GB of Web Storage
- 2 GB of Mail Storage
The total storage used is 7 GB, so backups can be made until the total reaches the 10 GB Backup Limit.
Backups are stored on a separate TrexHost backup server and do not use your hosting account’s storage. This means you cannot delete backups directly, and exceeding your Backup Limit cannot be solved by attempting to remove backups manually.
Solutions for Exceeding Your TrexHost Backup Limit
If your backup limit is exceeded, consider these options:
- Reduce Web or Mail Storage Usage
- Review your www/ folder content and your mailbox storage.
- To reduce mail storage, download emails locally via POP3 or delete unwanted emails using Webmail or IMAP.
- Once your total Web + Mail storage is below the Backup Limit, TrexHost backups will resume automatically.
- Upgrade Your Backup Limit
- If you want to keep all your files and emails, check if the Upgrades option is available for your TrexHost plan.
- You can increase your Backup Limit to accommodate all your content without deleting anything.
- Use TrexHost Remote Backups
- TrexHost offers a Remote Backups feature that lets you connect your hosting account to external storage like Google Drive or Dropbox (accessible via Files → Remote Backups in the Control Panel).
- Select the files and MySQL databases you want to back up, and TrexHost will handle backups at regular intervals.
Note: Always monitor the available space in your connected storage accounts. If there isn’t enough space, TrexHost will not be able to back up your website.
